Whalewatcher, the ACS journal

---
 PUBLICATION TIMETABLE

The most recent issue is Vol. 37, No. 1 - 2008.

 SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

ACS publishes Whalewatcher to bring scientific articles to our members in layperson's language.

The following guidelines are for authors who wish to submit articles for publication in Whalewatcher....

Whalewatcher contains illustrated feature articles by marine scientists, human-interest stories, information on world events, book reviews, artwork, and updates on ACS conferences and activities. Like the website, the journal plays an essential role in keeping our members informed and educating our constituents about the conservation issues we support. Whalewatcher is not a scientific research publication; articles are directed to an educated lay audience. Publication is subject to review and approval by the Whalewatcher editorial/scientific review panel.

A subscription to Whalewatcher is one of the most appreciated benefits of membership in ACS, and thousands of non-members enjoy reading back issues in the permanent collections of prominent academic institutions and public libraries.

Available back issues may be mail ordered for a nominal fee.

This section is still under development. When complete, almost all the catalog entries will contain links to reprints in PDF format. Since Whalewatcher is a membership benefit, the bulk of these links will available to members-only. However, selected articles from various issues will also be available to the general public.

In addition to the chronological catalogs, there are two topical indexes for the Whalewatcher archives. The members-only index, also called the PDF index, is a comprehensive list of all article reprints available on this site. The Whalewatcher excerpts page is organized by topic but lists only those articles available to the general public. Both indexes include Spyhopper archives.

From 2000 to 2003, the reports regularly featured in Spyhopper were incorporated into Whalewatcher and are therefore included in the Whalewatcher catalogs. The Spyhopper is currently a stand-along publication, see Spyhopper for the most recent issues.
