On the ACS/LA Floating Fiesta on March 17, 2001, a dozen gray whales and two species of dolphin were just the warm-up for an amazing feeding frenzy in the late afternoon. Two humpbacks were lunge-feeding among hundreds of long-beaked common dolphin, many of which would rostrum ride the whales when they surfaced. There were also porpoising California sea lions and thousands of sea birds of several species. |
